What Industries Will AI Change? And, More About

There’s in reality no primary enterprise that contemporary AI — more especially, “slender AI,” which plays objective functions using statistics-trained models and often falls into the types of deep studying or gadget learning — hasn’t already affected. That’s in particular authentic inside the beyond few years, as statistics collection and evaluation has ramped up extensively manner to strong IoT connectivity, the proliferation of associated devices and ever-quicker laptop processing. “I think everyone making assumptions approximately the capabilities of clever software program capping out sooner or later are mistaken,” David Vandegrift, CTO and co-founding father of the patron relationship management organisation 4Degrees, said. Are IT department ready to support digital business transformation?

IT service provider TEKsystems surveyed CIOs across all major industries on a range of key issues such as budgets, staffing needs, and organizational challenges they will face in 2019. Survey respondents include CIOs and VPs of CIO, CIOs, and IT hiring managers. Next, we'll see if IT departments are ready to support digital business transformation.

More money will be allocated for IT

As IT departments increasingly focus on creating a solid foundation for launching new initiatives and emerging technologies, IT budgets are expected to increase. Nearly two-thirds of the CIOs surveyed expect to see an increase in IT spending by 2019. This may be due to fewer procurement decisions by line of business and the consolidation of procurement under the umbrella of IT.

Can IT meet organizational needs in 2019?

Perhaps with increasing budgets, CIOs are confident they can meet the needs of their organizations for core IT activities, industry needs, and new initiatives. Of course, maintaining existing systems and infrastructure has the highest level of confidence. Support for new initiatives showed the least confidence, but overall it was still quite high at 64%. Key factors in assessing the ability to support new initiatives included the competence of existing staff, how quickly staff can be trained in new skills, and the ability to hire external resources.

What are the main goals and objectives?

Unsurprisingly, there are three top business goals identified by IT leaders as requiring IT support. The third is “creating new products and services” with 29%, the second is “deploying new IT infrastructure and applications” with 33%, and the first is “improving existing IT applications and infrastructure” with 37%. Thus, the main focus of IT teams is on making the most of existing applications while introducing new ones and supporting innovation.

CIOs were also asked what the main challenges are in achieving their goals. Key issues included how well IT and business teams align with each other, share knowledge and understand each other's goals, and ensure that the IT team has the necessary skills to operate effectively and communicate with the business team on one language to ensure that the business team understands the required technology concepts.
